Melbourne's Commercial Real Estate Market is unique in many respects.  Did You Know...

Melbourne, the capital and largest city in the state of Victoria, has a metropolitan population of about 3.7 million, making it the second most populous city in Australia after Sydney population.

The city was founded in 1835 by settlers from Tasmania, and it quickly became one of Australia's most populous and important cities due to the gold rush in the 1850s.

Nowadays Melbourne is a major commercial, financial, industrial, and cultural centre of Oceania. It is often called the "cultural and sporting capital of Australia." Due to the abundance of parks and gardens, Melbourne is also called Australia's garden city.

According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, Melbourne has sustained the highest population and economic growth rate of any Australian capital city since 2000.

The tourism industry is a major player in the local economy. Over 10 million domestic and international tourists visit the city every year. Melbourne is also a diverse and multicultural city. About a quarter of Victoria's population was born overseas; it has residents from 233 countries who speak over 180 languages and dialects.

About one-third of the 100 largest multinationals operating in the country have their Australian headquarters office in the city.

Melbourne has the largest seaport in the country, most of Australia's automotive industry, and a strong ICT industry, which employs about one third of Australia's Information and Communication Technology workforce.

Melbourne's commercial real estate market is expected to continue growing due to the good economic expansion in the nation and the fact that it is more affordable relative to all other markets in the nation. Moreover, the strong global economy has beneficiated all sectors of the real estate market because foreign and local investors continue investing in the city.
