•   With 441,200 inhabitants, Manchester is the most populous city in the region of North West England. The Greater Manchester Urban Area has a population of over 2.2 million people. This makes it Great Britain's third largest conurbation.

•   The name "Manchester" came from the Roman name Mamucium, which means "breast-like hill," and Anglo-Saxon Ceaster, which means "town. 

•   Manchester was one of the first industrialized cities in the world.  Its industrial society played an important role in the Industrial Revolution.  In the 19th century, the city was nicknamed "Cottonpolis" because it was the centre of the cotton industry.  In the same period, Manchester became one end of the world's first passenger railway - the Liverpool and Manchester Railway.

•   In January of this year, the city of Manchester was awarded a license to build the only super casino allowed in the United Kingdom.

•   Manchester has a reputation of having high quality business and retail districts. There are many office buildings and retail centers throughout the city, and new spaces are appearing rapidly. There are several large projects in construction that will drastically increase the supply in the market.
